This melt distributor was developed to meet the strict internal safe and healthy regulations of a big Japanese group, where a very low limit to the maximum weight of parts handled by the workers was given. The geometry of the melt distributor was developed with the support of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of the University of Brescia and the material flow during the extrusion process was simulated as well to get an optimal distribution of the material speed along the channel.
In fact, the distributor is part of a cross die-head used for coated PEX pipe insertion and the customer requested to minimize the material waste when changing the pipe colour.
